Advocates seek city support for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives walk and vigil

Nicole Wagon, speaking for a coalition addressing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIP), urged the council on Oct. 7 to support a community walk and vigil scheduled for Oct. 11 and to display flags to honor victims. Wagon listed names of Wyoming victims and said the event would include a run/walk, sponsorships, a meal and a vigil for families to display photos and banners.
Council members discussed scheduling and flag availability; Administrative Services staff noted that 4‑H had reserved flag posts through Oct. 12 but additional decorative flag posts were available. Council approved a request to display flags on Oct. 13 to mark Indigenous Peoples' Day. Mayor Tim Hancock and council members invited the public to attend the walk and vigil.
