Paulding County airport announces private developer will build 35–40 hangars under long‑term lease

Paulding County officials announced a public‑private partnership Monday at the Paulding County Airport to deliver roughly 35–40 aircraft hangars under a long‑term land lease.

Post 2 Commissioner Sandy Caker introduced Nate Shatner, the airport director for the Holiday Northwest Atlanta Airport, who said the county has a “huge hangar shortage” and that the private developer, LH Construction Group, will construct about 30 T‑hangars and another 5–10 box hangars. “We are very excited to announce a public private partnership out here at the airport,” Shatner said.

Shatner said LH Construction Group has placed a deposit on the steel package and expects dirt work to begin in November with steel shipments arriving in December. Provided weather and permitting go as planned, he said, the hangars could be ready by summer or fall 2026.

“As part of this development, there is no cost to the airport authority. There’s no cost to the taxpayer,” Shatner said. He said the developer will front construction costs and that the county will receive steady revenue from land lease payments and property taxes assessed on aircraft and buildings.

The announcement included a local contact number for additional information and tied the proposal to a broader state‑ and nationwide shortage of hangar space in the Atlanta area.

The board did not vote on the hangar project at the meeting; Shatner presented the development plan and timetable as an informational item.
