The Planning Commission voted to amend the University Neighborhood Overlay (UNO) subdistrict map to change the designation of properties at 900 through 908 West 20 Second Street from the Outer West Subdistrict to the Inner West Subdistrict.

"It would afford them some additional height on this, I believe, half acre of the property that they are looking at," Commissioner Breton, the item sponsor, said, adding the change "would afford additional height and would afford us more additional funding or units or beds, that are designated affordable." Vice Chair Haney seconded the motion. The commission closed the public hearing after applicants and opponents waived their time and approved the amendment unanimously.

Commissioners discussed the geography of the change and confirmed the shift would keep the district contiguous while adding the properties at 900–908. Commissioner Skidmore and others asked staff and the sponsor questions to locate the parcels precisely; staff confirmed the amendment applies only to the properties listed and not to other parcels unless separate applications are filed. The motion was made by Commissioner Breton and seconded by Vice Chair Haney; the chair announced the motion passed unanimously.

No site plan for the properties has been filed with staff at this time, and staff reiterated that rezoning or overlay changes initiated through a private application apply only to properties with owner consent. Speakers that had registered for the item waived their time.
