Elkhart students and teams recognized; band, volleyball and soccer earn honors

Zoe Bridal told trustees the homecoming dance sold "over 800 tickets," and both students described multiple campus events, fundraisers and community engagement activities. District staff noted the Pride of Elkhart marching band's gold ratings at regional competitions and advancement to semi-state. Athletics highlights included boys soccer winning the NIC, Miguel Galligos being named soccer MVP with 26 goals and Riley Drummond being recognized as volleyball NIC player of the year.
Board members and administrators applauded the students and coaches, and the agenda listed several upcoming events including a track-or-treat at Rice Field on Oct. 30 and a synchronous e-learning day on Nov. 4. The meeting also included recognition of support staff and custodians during board comments.
The student presentations and recognitions were part of the meeting's opening and district highlights and did not require board action.
