Council approves gazebo installations at Salem and Farrington parks and new gateway signage

The Stonecrest City Council on Oct. 27 approved two procurement actions: a vendor recommendation to install gazebos at Salem Park and Farrington Park and a vendor award for gateway monument and park identification signage.

Procurement Manager Tanisha Boynton told council that Collins General Construction LLC was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder for the gazebos after six proposals were received; the procurement item requests authorization to execute a contract once legal finalizes the paperwork. The council voted to accept the procurement recommendation 5–0. The staff discussion clarified that funding for the gazebo work will be split among available capital/SPLOST lines and ARPA park improvement allocations; staff said invoices can be paid from multiple GL lines but that federal ARPA funds must not be commingled in a single cash pool.

For gateway monument and wayfinding signage, procurement received three bids and recommended Right Light Signs Inc. for the work at a contract amount of $147,719. City staff said the signage project will replace an existing sign in the Panola Shoals area and will be funded from available municipal funds (staff noted waste funding availability during the meeting). Council approved the Right Light Signs recommendation unanimously and authorized the mayor and city clerk to execute the vendor contract once prepared by legal.

No schedule for installation or completion dates was presented at the council meeting; procurement and project leads said they will provide construction timelines and coordinate with parks staff.
