Board approves network and benefits contracts, reviews career-center agreement

The Elkhart Community Schools Board of Trustees approved multiple contracts on Oct. 28, including a network solution maintenance agreement and a project agreement with GEOCOM recommended by Safety, Security and Risk Management, and authorized a two-year agreement with HealthJoy LLC for a benefits navigation platform.
On the GEOCOM project, administration said the recommendation came from Safety, Security and Risk Management. "On behalf of Safety, Security and Risk Management, the administration is recommending approval of a project agreement with GEOCOM," a presenter said. The board moved and seconded the contracts as presented and voted to approve them.
The board also authorized a two-year agreement with HealthJoy LLC for the implementation of a benefits navigation platform. Administration said the cost will be paid from the district's self-insurance fund; the motion to authorize the contract passed unanimously.
Separately, the administration presented a proposed preliminary agreement with Beable Education Inc. for the Elkhart Area Career Center; presenters fielded no questions and said the item will return for further consideration at a later date.
Donations that were approved as part of the consent agenda included two corporate sponsorships through the Elkhart Area Career Center (Jayco and Marsden International), $2,000 from Waypoint Community Church for Bristol Elementary's pride fund, and $600 from the Elkar Athletic Club for soccer program development — a total of $4,600 reported to the board and accepted in the consent vote.
Board members did not alter the presented contracts at the meeting.
