Woodside proclaims October 2025 Domestic Violence Awareness Month; CORA describes services

Tracy Cook described CORA as "the only provider of comprehensive services for survivors of intimate partner abuse and domestic violence within San Mateo County" and summarized services including a 24-hour hotline, emergency sheltering, legal assistance for restraining orders and custody matters, mental-health services for adults and children, and long-term rental assistance of up to three years. She emphasized that domestic violence can occur in any intimate relationship and cited prevalence figures included in the proclamation: more than 150,000 domestic-violence-related calls in California annually and a lifetime prevalence estimate noted in the proclamation.
Cook said she appreciated Woodside’s proclamation and noted that with Woodside’s action, every jurisdiction in San Mateo County had recognized Domestic Violence Awareness Month. She said CORA would issue a press release marking that milestone and thanked the council for its support.
The proclamation text presented at the meeting referenced statewide call volumes and cited the month as a time to unite in support of survivors; no council action beyond issuing the proclamation was required.
