Local DAR and students seek county support for America‑250 plaque, radio series and community events

Adcock asked the commission to provide a letter indicating local buy‑in for the plaque; she said city parks and recreation staff had drafted a supporting letter and she planned to meet the Green River city council that evening.
Seniors Easton Morris and Cameron Quackenbush described a student partnership with the Sweetwater County Museum and a local radio station to produce short daily historical segments in the runup to July 4, 2026. The students asked the county to act as a clearinghouse so local groups do not duplicate events and to consider small stipends for civic groups to execute community‑level celebrations.
Commissioners said the city of Green River’s concurrence is an important step and agreed to coordinate with the city and other stakeholders. Chair West asked staff to verify the mechanism for a letter of county support and to return with a draft once city approval is confirmed.
