Library director says programs and digital checkouts grew; meeting‑room renovations near completion

Library director Lindsey Travis presented the Sweetwater County Library System annual report to commissioners on Oct. 7, reporting stable overall circulation and growth in programs and digital use.
Travis said total FY25 checkouts were about 245,000, with a 10.2% increase in digital checkouts offsetting a modest decline in physical loans. Program activity drove usage: the system held 1,082 programs with 50,129 attendees (a 27.4% increase), including youth programs and outreach. Travis noted that 51% of circulation comes from adult materials, 44% from juvenile collections and 5% from the teen collection, and said staff are working to boost teen engagement.
Funding for the library remains primarily local: roughly 98% of the library’s budget comes from Sweetwater County, Travis said. Personnel costs account for the largest share of expenditures (roughly 80% of the operating budget line referenced in the presentation), followed by operating expenses, materials and utilities. Grant‑funded projects include meeting‑room renovations (Green River room reopened; Rock Springs nearing completion; White Mountain remodel and HVAC work progressing toward bidding).
Travis thanked the library foundation for program support and noted partnerships with Wyoming State Parks, the Green River Recreation Department and local schools. Commissioners thanked the director and urged continued progress on the planned renovations.
