Board adopts amended procurement ordinance, approves extension office MOU and names county administrator to Heart of Appalachia board
Summary

The Scott County Board of Supervisors took several routine and housekeeping actions during the meeting.
Procurement ordinance: The board opened and closed the public hearing on an ordinance to amend and reenact the Scott County Public Procurement Ordinance to reflect changes in Title 2.2, Chapters 43 and 43.1 of the Code of Virginia. There were no public comments and the board approved the ordinance.
Extension Office MOU: The board approved a memorandum of understanding to relocate the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office into the Soil & Water building. The Soil & Water board had voted to lease space without monetary rent; the county will cover maintenance and utilities. Board members said the move should improve co‑location and is expected to have minimal additional ongoing costs.
Bookkeeping: The board approved appropriations to the sheriff—s payroll and associated FICA accounts to record a reimbursement deposit in the treasurer—s office. The actions were approved by motion and voice vote.
Appointment: The tourism director recommended two nominees for the county—s second voting seat on the Heart of Appalachia board: Josh Wilson (county administrator) and Eddie Skeen (supervisor). The board voted by show of hands; the tally reported in the meeting was four votes for Wilson and three for Skeen, and the board appointed Josh Wilson to represent Scott County on the Heart of Appalachia board.
Payment of bills: The board approved payment of county claims and moved to the next agenda items.
