The Scott County Board of Supervisors voted to extend the real‑estate tax due date to Dec. 10 after the treasurer reported technical problems with the county—s new real‑estate tax software that delayed printing and mailing tax bills.
The treasurer told the board that the county had moved to a new system (Bryte/Bryte?) but that data feeds for town districts and name‑search functionality were not populating correctly. Personal property records had been uploaded and were available in the register, but the real‑estate data file necessary to print and mail bills could not be produced reliably while programmers remedied the issues.
The board—s motion to extend the due date to Dec. 10 was made by Supervisor Stephanie Addington and seconded by Supervisor Danny Castile; the board approved the extension by voice vote. County staff said that if the programmer resolves the data issue promptly, the tax bills could still be printed and mailed quickly; staff also agreed to run a public notice and to use social media and the local paper to inform taxpayers about the extension.
Implementation and next steps: County staff will continue working with the software vendor to produce the real‑estate tax file, will coordinate proofs with the contracted printer, and will report progress to the board. The treasurer noted that the personal property roll is available for payments in the register.
