County seeks quotes and training options after mixed vendor proposals for courthouse heating

Granite County commissioners on Oct. 28 reviewed proposals from Johnson Controls and Comfort Systems to repair and maintain the courthouse heating system.
Court-house technical staff told the board the system is older and that some parts are not common to modern systems. A vendor representative and county facility staff discussed that some repairs could restore full function while an upgrade to a new delivery system would be a larger capital project. "I can keep it at 80% and I can't get it to a 100," one county technician said, adding that the Third Floor heating was of particular concern.
Commissioners instructed staff to obtain more-detailed quotes, ask vendors for options to train county staff, and return with a scope and cost estimate. "They could come and help you fix one and show you how to do it," a commissioner said of vendor training. No contract award was made at the meeting.
