Winton Woods facilities update: central office parking, baseball field work, solar lab and Junefield auction announced

Winton Woods City School District's executive director of business affairs updated the board Monday on multiple facilities projects and a surplus-property sale timetable.

Jeremy Day told the board the central-office parking lot work is essentially complete and in final city inspections; the contract will be closed and paid out once inspections finish. Athletic improvements include a new baseball-field fence and concrete dugout pads expected soon, plus an installed scoreboard with electrical permitting underway.

Day described a solar-lab installation at the high school front entrance that will be protected with a 6-foot aluminum rail fence and include outdoor learning furniture. He said the solar lab is part of previously awarded grant funding for solar panels and that the district is restoring some of the originally planned outdoor learning areas that were cut during earlier construction due to cost.

The board also heard that the district's Junefield property is being offered for public auction; legal notice ran in the paper and the district must run the notice for at least one month. The public bid opening is scheduled for Dec. 1 at 10 a.m., Day said.

Board members raised the public-address system at the football stadium. Day said vendors have completed demos and that the issue appears to be the press-box side and controls rather than the speakers alone; another vendor visit was scheduled. The board discussed the stadium fencing wrap and planned removals in winter to extend longevity.

No board action was required; members directed staff to continue vendor evaluations and to proceed with bid and inspection timelines as noted.
