Planning commission backs lot consolidation at 13955 Brook Park Road for Mazda expansion

The planning committee presented a request to consolidate two parcels at 13955 Brook Park Road (U‑7 zoning) to allow an auxiliary facility for Classic Mazda. Planning reported the matter passed the planning commission by unanimous vote.
Jeff Platz of Neff & Associates, the project's surveyor/engineer, said the consolidation is a straightforward lot‑combination to provide operational space for the dealership. Zari Vollanes, vice president for Classic Automotive Group, described business growth since relocating the Mazda dealership in 2020: staff increased from 18 employees to 46 and payroll is approaching $3.8 million.
"We bought the Mazda dealership in January 2020 ... business has quadrupled during that time, and we're just running out of space," Vollanes said.
Council moved to have legislation drafted and placed on the next council agenda for first reading. The motion to draft and place the necessary ordinance passed on roll call with supporting votes recorded.
