Planning commission approves municipal campus visuals, lot consolidation for Mazda and mural with conditions

It approved a requested front‑porch covering with a condition to use a reverse gable rather than a flat roof to improve aesthetics; it unanimously denied a conditional use permit for a car dealership at 6,100 West 100 and 130th Street; and it approved a lot consolidation at 13955 Brook Park Road that will allow an existing Mazda dealer to use the additional parcel for vehicle parking.
The commission also gave aesthetic approval for renovations to the municipal campus and recreation center based on renderings provided by the mayor’s office. Mayor Jim Orcutt said the renderings will be displayed at the recreation center and included in council packets when funding is considered.
Separately, the commission approved five new monument signs for the municipal campus to match the proposed rec‑center design. It approved a mural at 15119 Snow Road but required removal of the phrase "welcome to downtown"; commissioners instead approved a mural showing the Ohio map with a star marking Brook Park.
