Brook Park seeks $50,000 county grant to replace playground equipment at McGovern Park

Mayor Robert Orcutt told council the city will apply for a $50,000 Community Development Supplemental Grant from Cuyahoga County (CDSG) to support Brook Park's playground replacement program. He referenced prior projects funded in earlier cycles, including Kennedy Memorial Park and Carpenter Park, and said the city must submit the application by Nov. 6, 2025.
"Section 1, page 2, starting in the second last line, we have to submit the grant by 11/06/2025," the mayor said, noting the short window for grant deadlines. The mayor said the grant would help pay to replace playground equipment at McGovern Park on Millbrook.
Council made a motion to post the resolution on the caucus agenda so it could be introduced or passed at the next council meeting if appropriate. The motion to place the item on the caucus agenda and prepare it for possible first‑reading action carried on a roll call vote with council members recorded as supporting the posting.
The mayor invited cosponsors and said staff would coordinate the submission and any required signature documents if the grant is awarded.
