Public works staff updated council on Sept. 9 about a proposed expansion of the city’s residential driveway snow‑plow voucher program. After two years—46 participants in year one and 86 in year two—staff bid the program to expand capacity to 100 households.
Staff reported a budget estimate of roughly $20,000 to cover the additional vouchers and said the city has authority to proceed with advertisement and vendor selection under existing procurement procedures. The planned public notice to residents would begin Sept. 15, run for two weeks with an additional short silent week for late signups, and include distribution of physical vouchers once the vendor is awarded.
Councilors expressed general support for expanding enrollment and asked staff to include the appropriation in upcoming budget adjustments so the program is funded prior to winter.
