Parish millage funds to support two primary-care clinics that serve about 30,000 visits a year, presenter says

Jeff Viel, director of finance at Access Health Louisiana, told the council that the millage allocation included in the proposed parish budget will be used exclusively to cover expenses at the organization's two primary-care clinics in Luling and Norco.
Viel said those clinics provide roughly 30,000 visits a year and serve about 10,000 unique patients. He also noted that Access Health's fiscal year runs March through February, whereas the parish budget was presented as a calendar-year document.
Council members asked whether a federal shutdown was affecting clinic operations; Viel said he did not see impacts to the community health center at this time.
No council action was taken on the presentation.
