The Saint Charles Parish Housing Authority said it submitted a pre-application for HUD's concept-call process and will redo resident meetings on Nov. 5 as part of corrections requested by HUD. Staff cautioned that a federal shutdown and furloughs may slow HUD processing, though they project HAP payments through at least December.
Jedidiah Jackson, executive director of the Saint Charles Parish Housing Authority, told the council that the authority's FY2025-26 operating and HCV budgets were approved by the housing authority board and accepted by HUD. He said the authority submitted a pre-application to begin HUD's concept-call process for conversion and received correction requests from HUD that must be addressed.
Jackson said the authority will re-hold resident meetings on Nov. 5 (one at 1 p.m. and one at 4 p.m.) so residents can attend and the corrections can be incorporated into a resubmission to HUD. He warned that a federal shutdown and related furloughs could slow HUD responses because field-office staff have limited availability; however, he said the authority projects it will receive HAP payments at least through December and that the authority maintains reserves.
Jackson told the council the housing authority has other financing options but prefers to proceed with HUD processes once the application is corrected and resubmitted.
