Resident urges township to recruit temporary bus drivers to restore senior-center service

During the public-comment period, resident Andy Brumberg told the council he uses the township senior-center bus and urged the township to seek temporary drivers from local private providers such as Rick's Bus Service to restore service after the center's driver resigned.

Brumberg described scheduling challenges for riders and suggested the township consider adjusting pick-up times to accommodate available drivers. The resident said low attendance at the senior center appeared linked to the absence of reliable transportation.

Mayor Marathi responded later in the meeting, saying the previous driver resigned for personal reasons and that the township has identified a replacement who must first give notice to a current employer. The mayor said staff expect to restore service and will speak to the school superintendent about using school-district buses as a paid option if necessary.
