Budget commission approves amended certificates for county, park district, cities and school districts

The Portage County Budget Commission voted Oct. 28 to approve amended certificates of estimated resources for Portage County and several local governments and school districts.

The action updated multiple entities' estimated resources for the 2025–2026 period. The commission recorded Portage County’s 10th amendment as an increase of $516,347, bringing the county’s total estimated resources to $394,736,858. The Portage Park District’s 5th amendment was recorded as a decertification of $25,000, leaving its total at $11,451,702. The city of Streetsboro’s 4th amendment increased resources by $461,700.27, to $55,477,619. Hiram Village’s 2nd amendment was recorded as $353,005, for a total of $4,135,182. Broomfield Township’s 3rd amendment increased estimated resources by $513,635, to $13,688,617.

Among school districts, the transcript lists a Ridgetown Local School District 1st amendment as a decertification of $1,642,960, to $20,671,160; Southeast Local School District’s 2nd amendment as an increase of $11,166,152, to $42,100,459; and Waterloo Local School District’s 2nd amendment as an increase of $702,879, to $17,709,236. The transcript contains minor hesitations and variable spellings for some district names; amounts are recorded as read into the record.

A motion to approve the certificates as submitted was moved and seconded; the commission recorded a voice vote of “Aye,” and the motion carried.

The commission took no further discussion on the certificates at the meeting and proceeded to the next agenda item.
