District presents ELA instructional framework, kindergarten screening and AMI updates

District academic leaders presented an update on English language arts instruction, kindergarten readiness screening and upcoming dates for parent‑teacher conferences and professional learning.
Assistant superintendent Ms. Stacia described a literacy instructional framework built around a short mini‑lesson, student work time, reflection, personalized small‑group instruction and an emphasis on the science of reading. The framework sets target instructional minutes (for example, district guidance on reading and 40 minutes of protected writing time) that were co‑constructed with teachers. Stacia said kindergarten observation participation was high and the district corrected a Moses ID issue to reach a 99.9 percent completion rate for the assessment.
She said building leaders are using the literacy framework and that instructional coaches are supporting early learning sites; predictive assessment results and KEA (kindergarten early assessment) data will be returned at the November meeting. AMI (alternate method of instruction) packets are being distributed during parent‑teacher conferences Oct. 27–30 and online resources are available.
The board thanked kindergarten teachers for completing the observations and noted a district schedule item: Nov. 3 professional learning day and evaluation/observation dates in December.
