The Birmingham City Commission on Oct. 27 approved a special-event permit for a new city-sponsored family event, the Peter Cottontail Trail, proposed for Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Parks/DPS staff described the event as a community-oriented Easter-egg hunt with a photo opportunity, children's activities (crafts, face painting, bubbles) and space for community tables and sponsors. Staff asked that approval be contingent on compliance with permit conditions, insurance and fee payments and reserved administrative authority to make minor changes or cancel the event if necessary.
Commissioners welcomed the additional family programming and approved the permit by motion with unanimous support.
