Summary
The Lynn Haven City Commission on Tuesday approved several FY26 budgeted equipment purchases, granted two development orders and deferred a separate housing‑related endorsement while also adopting temporary utility‑relief for federal and military employees affected by the federal government shutdown.
The Lynn Haven City Commission on Tuesday voted to approve multiple budgeted purchases, grant two development orders and take a number of procedural steps on community requests.
By roll call the commission approved the following resolutions and actions: reapproval of the side‑loader garbage truck purchase for $418,740.81; a $122,425 purchase of three replacement water department trucks; purchase of a valve‑exercising machine and trailer for $110,440; and an agreement for temporary licensed wastewater operator staffing (Yates Plumbing) subject to the FY26 budget cap (discussed in a separate article). Commissioners also approved development orders for a self‑service ice vending machine at 601 Ohio Avenue and an ACE Hardware expansion that includes 16 additional parking spaces and stormwater improvements.
On a separate agenda item the commission considered but did not approve a letter of support for a proposed Panama City Rescue Mission emergency shelter project. Following public comment raising questions about site capacity, funding and whether Panama City had acted first, the commission voted to defer action until the City of Panama City takes up the matter.
In another policy step the commission added and later approved direction to staff to temporarily suspend late fees and disconnections for federal employees and active military who can verify being affected by the federal government shutdown; that relief will remain in place through 30 days after the shutdown ends, and staff was directed to adopt verification procedures.
All motions noted above passed by roll call; specific tallies and mover/second details for each item are reported in individual agenda packets and in the meeting minutes.
