Jones Mill Engineering presented design-complete drawings and a negotiated bid recommendation for rehabilitation of the city sewer lagoons.
Justin Telfer said the design-assist process with Precision Contractors produced a favorable bid and that Precision is familiar with the site and project risks. Telfer noted the plan to dispose some sludge on airport property and said disposal would remain within FAA limits and not encroach on the runway.
Council voted to accept the recommendation and award the contract to Precision Contractors. Motion to approve came from Council member Lance Cox and was seconded by Council member Owen Spencer; a voice vote of approval was recorded.
The council discussed contingencies and confirmed the project has funding in place and a contingency allowance for unexpected conditions. Staff and the engineer will finalize contracting and scheduling with the selected contractor.
