Lauderhill honors clergy, holds briefing on open‑carry court ruling for faith leaders

The city attorney also briefed faith leaders and commissioners on a recent First District Court of Appeal decision that struck down a local ban on open carry in that court’s jurisdiction and on subsequent written guidance from the Florida attorney general applying the ruling statewide. "If you have any questions relating to that law, please feel free to call the police department, the police chief, and also you can call the city attorney office," the city attorney said, urging clergy to consult official sources for compliance details.
The mayor said the session had included local pastors from a range of congregations and emphasized churches’ role as community resource centers for youth and seniors; clergy leaders thanked the commission and city staff for the formal recognition and described partnerships on youth and public-safety initiatives.
