Navigate Building Solutions provided the Real Estate Committee a status update on Proposition S work and costs.
"Not including those firms, we have touched a 100 and north of a $137,000,000 to date," Navigate’s Chaz Jaques said, summarizing work to date across the district including whiteboard installations, door replacements, restroom upgrades, roofing work and playground resurfacing. Jaques walked the committee through the program schedule, seven budget categories (hazardous materials abatement, building infrastructure, academic improvements, outdoor learning spaces, HVAC, safety/security, interior enhancements) and photo examples of hazardous‑materials abatement and recent auditorium improvements at three high schools.
Jaques said the district is piloting updated premise and directional identification signage at Central VPA Collegiate (Central VPA), a change prompted in part by emergency‑response discussions. The firm indicated the Central VPA pilot could serve as a basis of design for signage at other open schools; funding for district‑wide rollout would come from remaining Proposition S balances and future allocations. During questions, committee members asked whether work remained on budget (Jaques: yes) and whether leftover funds would revert to the Proposition S fund (Jaques: yes).
