The Raytown Board of Aldermen on Oct. 7 approved a grant‑funded purchase to replace skate‑park equipment at Carnegie Park, using a 100% Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant. The city presented a vendor quote of $187,000 and set a purchase limit not to exceed $200,000.
Parks staff said the existing equipment is about 20 years old and that staff plan to surplus it; the city is in discussions with the city of Richmond to transfer or sell the existing equipment. The parks liaison said the facility receives regular use and noted lighting improvements already in place. Staff confirmed the vendor, American Ramp Company of Springfield, Mo., has worked on the current equipment and that city maintenance staff can service the new components.
Alderman Emerson moved to approve the purchase; Alderman Hayden seconded. The board approved the resolution by roll-call vote. Staff said any savings under the grant budget may be reallocated to other Carnegie project elements or to a separate 53rd Street project, subject to HUD guidelines and the grant budgetary limits.
