Mountaintop Engineering’s representative said the property will be used for parking and that the applicant will coordinate with traffic engineering to install a city‑standard signal and beacon on 80th Street; the applicant said the city would assume maintenance of the signal if the city ultimately accepts it.
Council members asked about the process to install and accept equipment in the public right‑of‑way; staff said any signal or beacon in the right‑of‑way would require separate encroachment or dedication and formal council acceptance. The council approved the rezoning after the public hearing and applicant presentation.
