The county finance director told the committee that as of the reporting date property tax collections were roughly $206,000 below the same time last year while prior‑year collections were approximately $137,000 ahead of the prior year. County‑wide sales tax collections were reported about $69,000 ahead of the same time last year. Mineral severance receipts were not reported and will be provided next month.
Staff noted the county is about 25 percent of the way through the fiscal year and flagged travel and in‑service expenditures as items over budget for the period but explained those costs typically occur earlier in the year. The finance director said rate changes passed by the commission will begin showing up in collections the month following implementation and that the state processes certain tax‑rate notifications.
The committee approved the monthly reports by voice vote and voted to forward the quarterly summary to the full commission for action.
