The Albuquerque Public Schools Finance Committee on Oct. 22 recommended that the full Board of Education consider multi-awarding a sheet-metal fabrication and installation services contract to three local vendors.
Miss Apodaca presented the item and said the district recommended multi-awarding to JB Henderson, BND Industries and Butler Sheet Metal for a three-year contract. Staff estimated the combined total at $14,400,000 and said the contract would utilize different funding sources.
A committee member asked whether the vendors work with district trades staff and whether the contract could create apprenticeship or student participation opportunities. Miss Apodaca said she would consult with district staff (Dr. Gonzales and John DeFe) and provide an answer.
The item was included in the consent package that the committee recommended to the full board for approval.
