Organizers told council Oct. 21 that Old Milford Porchfest drew dozens of porch hosts and roughly 70 bands across downtown and surrounding neighborhoods; Elizabeth Burr said the event used 54 porches and estimated average attendance of about 60 people per neighborhood porch. She thanked the city for support and asked for volunteer help for future events.
Police Chief Mills said trunk-or-treat events are growing in popularity and listed several scheduled community events, including ones hosted at Texas Roadhouse and in the Milford Shopping Center. Chief Mills also reported a series of stolen vehicles and incidents in which vehicles were rummaged through; he said the incidents appear to be a pattern involving mostly young people operating late at night and urged residents to "lock your vehicle, remove all valuables, or at least get them out of sight." Mills said officers recovered a stolen vehicle in Miami Township and encouraged residents to call if they see suspicious activity.
Council members also announced a high-school-band performance and a Susan G. Komen "more than pink" walk downtown at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday; one council member thanked public-works crews for a recent curb repair on Short Lila near Carriageway.
