North Penn board approves routine business, Act 1 opt-out and student surveys

The North Penn School District Board of School Directors approved routine business and several district actions during its Oct. action meeting.
Votes taken and outcomes listed at the meeting included approval of the Sept. 18 and Oct. 14 meeting minutes; adoption of the consent agenda covering policies, student travel and contracts; personnel recommendations; authorization to administer the Student Sense of Belonging survey; approval to administer the Pennsylvania Youth Survey for grades 6, 8, 10 and 12; and adoption of a resolution opting out of exceeding the Act 1 index for the 2026–27 budget year. All motions passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Board members and administrators noted timing for survey results: both the Sense of Belonging and the Pennsylvania Youth Survey results are expected in the spring and will be shared with the board and the public. The Pennsylvania Youth Survey targets risky behaviors and families will receive opt-out information before administration.
On finance matters the board noted a currently strong cash position due to early tax receipts but cautioned that a continuing state budget impasse could create cash-flow pressure in January–February; administration said it will prepare a cash-flow report for the board.
