Jefferson County HHRC schedules Nov. 5 community coffee chat with Ohio Valley Opportunities

The Jefferson County Health and Human Relations Commission announced on Oct. 22 that it will host a community "coffee chat" at Analog Coffee on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. featuring Ohio Valley Opportunities to inform residents about local services.

The event is planned as an informal chance for residents to speak with service providers and commission members. "I think it will be a nice way to kick off this series and just, like, get it going," said Stephanie, an HHRC member. The commission said there will not be a formal presentation; the provider will staff a table at the back of the venue.

Commissioners discussed outreach and promotion plans, including posting a flyer on Analog Coffee's Instagram, asking Ohio Valley Opportunities to repost, and distributing the flyer to Bethany Legacy Foundation, RBR, the Clearinghouse, Madison Main Street, the public library and local food pantries. Stephanie said she will ask Analog to post the flyer within days and will request OVO to share it on social media.

Members also discussed producing a short HHRC handout or postcard to provide at the event. The group agreed to check whether Jane already has an existing handout that could be updated. Sarah, who manages the commission's web presence, will be asked to post event details on the county site so residents can find the event and the correct HHRC contact email.

The commission encouraged members to help spread the flyer through their contacts and to invite residents countywide, not only downtown attendees.

The HHRC listed the coffee chat as a first step in a broader outreach series intended to raise awareness of services available to Jefferson County residents.
