Sweetwater council approves appointments to Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment

The Sweetwater City Council approved appointments to two advisory bodies during a brief special call meeting held at 9:00 a.m. The council voted to appoint Scott Morgan and Rodney Foster as regular members and Richard Ferguson as an alternate to the Planning and Zoning Commission, and to appoint Rees Locke to the Board of Adjustment.

The action occurred after the presiding councilmember introduced Item 3(a), describing the proposed appointments and asking whether there were questions for Bester, a staff member; none were raised. "Make a motion," a councilmember said, and another seconded the motion to approve the three Planning and Zoning appointments. The presiding councilmember called for a voice vote, saying, "All in favor, please say aye." Councilmembers answered "Aye." The presiding councilmember asked if anyone opposed; none spoke, and the appointments were approved.

The council then moved to Item 3(b) to consider the appointment of Rees Locke to the Board of Adjustment. Again, no questions were asked of staff. A councilmember moved to approve the appointment and another seconded. On a subsequent voice vote the presiding councilmember called for "All those in favor," members responded "Aye," and no opposition was voiced. The appointment of Rees Locke was approved.

No members of the public spoke during the public-comment period; the presiding councilmember noted the three-minute limit and that personnel and litigation matters could not be discussed. The council then moved, seconded and approved a motion to adjourn.
