The Houma–Terrebonne Regional Planning Commission on Oct. 16 approved a minor subdivision that creates three lots fronting a private street (Oliver Court) and granted a requested variance from the parish subdivision frontage requirement for Lot C.
Surveyor Alisa Champine said the subdivision replicates historic lot lines and that Oliver Court, a private street created in the 1960s, has long been used for access to the parcels. Staff noted proposed Lot D will be commercial and has no public‑right‑of‑way frontage; a note to that effect was placed on the plat. Staff recommended the variance because the subdivision meets standards for development and because the frontage shortfall is consistent with the existing servitude and historical lot configuration.
Commission action: Commissioners voted to approve the variance for Lot C and to approve the subdivision. Staff confirmed utility letters and an approval from parish engineering were on file.
Ending: Staff will place the required notation on the final plat and the applicant may record the subdivision after satisfying standard administrative recording requirements.
