Resident objects to unpermitted Firewise sign; DRC adds complaint to next agenda

Lafayette 'A resident told the Design Review Commission on Oct. 27 that a privately posted "Firewise" sign sits in front of his property without a permit and asked the sign be removed or relocated.
Bruce Osterman said the sign, placed by a neighborhood association representative, claims the property is a "Firewise site" though "we are not a Firewise site," and that the sign was installed without his consent. "This is not a government sign," Osterman told the commission during the public comment period.
Commissioners moved to place the complaint on the DRC's next meeting agenda for formal review; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Chair Glenn Cass asked that staff be advised if the matter is resolved before the next hearing.
No formal enforcement action was taken at the meeting; the complaint will return to the DRC as an agenda item for staff briefing and possible follow‑up.
