The Pickens County School District Board of Trustees approved a $43,277.17 boardroom technology and refresh project on Oct. 27 to bring the boardroom into compliance with South Carolina Code section 59-19-85 and district policy BE, administration said.
Director Matt Owens presented the vendor proposal, which includes enhanced audio/video systems ($30,695.04), an upgraded presenter podium ($2,400), and repainting/wall repairs (approximately $3,500). Administration said the work will improve livestream audio/video quality and public accessibility. The project will be funded from prior-year capital funds designated for marketing refresh and requires board approval because the purchase exceeds the district’s $1,000 threshold under procurement code section 4-50.
Board members asked whether the presenter would appear on the livestream and requested better sight-lines for trustees to view presentation content; staff said the upgraded system will support presenter views and that staff would explore an additional small display at the dais. The board approved the purchase by voice/hand vote.
