Committee approves minutes and two contractor change‑order packages for board recommendation

The North Penn School District Facilities & Operations Committee approved minutes from its Sept. 29 meeting and recommended that the full board approve two sets of change orders for Bidpack 1.

Committee staff presented a recommendation that the board approve change orders for Penn Builders Incorporated totaling $36,251.09, which staff said would be applied to material allowances and leave a remaining allowance balance of $403,138.27. Mr. Ryan told the committee, “these change orders do not increase the contract amount to the vendor nor does it increase the overall construction budget,” and summarized the three specific items: proposed change order #13 for additional natatorium flooring and door frames ($24,771.50); proposed change order #14, a credit of $894.34 for corridor flooring left in place; and proposed change order #17 for additional ceramic wall tile ($12,372.93).

Later in the meeting Mr. Ryan presented a second recommendation for Burrow Construction Incorporated consisting of multiple change orders totaling $9,177.18 to be applied to that contract’s allowances, leaving $177,216.86 in remaining allowances. He described proposed change order #6 for additional classroom display technology ($4,704.12) and proposed change order #7 for unforeseen removal of an existing light pole base at the fueling station ($4,473.06).

All motions — approval of the Sept. 29 minutes, the Penn Builders change orders, and the Burrow Construction change orders — were moved, seconded and passed on voice votes during the virtual committee meeting. The committee record shows aye votes and no oppositions; no roll‑call tallies with named yes/no votes were recorded in the transcript.
