Director's report: historic‑preservation workshop announced; Applebee's/IHOP and urgent care applications noted

UKIAH, Calif. — At the Oct. 8 meeting of the Ukiah Planning Commission, staff outlined several non‑action items of interest to the public and commission, including a historic‑preservation workshop and recent development reviews.
Jesse Davis, chief planning manager, noted a community workshop on Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center (Cabernet Room) hosted with the Historical Society of Mendocino County to discuss updates to the city’s historic‑preservation ordinance. “That workshop on the sixteenth will start at 05:30PM, in conjunction with the Historical Society of Mendocino County,” Davis said.
Development updates: Davis said the zoning administrator approved a minor site development permit for a dual‑branded Applebee's/IHOP on Airport Park Boulevard; that project will proceed to the building‑permit phase. He also previewed an introduction of a proposed open‑space zoning district for the Oct. 22 commission meeting and reported the Mendocino Community Health Clinic urgent‑care project will go to the Design Review Board on Oct. 23 and may be before the commission in November or early December.
The director’s written monthly report was included in the packet; staff invited commissioners to ask questions and noted Phase I environmental materials and other supporting documents were uploaded for the Carousel Lane annexation packet.
No formal action was taken on these items at the Oct. 8 meeting.
