Council renews five-year management contract with Landscapes Unlimited for city golf course

Grand Island — The City Council on Oct. 28 approved a five-year contract with Landscapes Unlimited to continue managing the municipal golf course.
City staff said the course is not a major revenue generator and reported an operating gap in recent years. “We were operating at about a $60,000 a year deficit,” staff said during the discussion, and the contract aims to minimize the subsidy while maintaining services. Justin Arlt of Landscapes Golf Management described the past five years of performance and said the company averaged under $100,000 in annual subsidy needs over its contract term; he also noted a new capital-fleet program that shifts major equipment costs into the operating budget.
Councilmembers asked about historic goals to operate the course near break-even and requested clearer projection data for the next five years. Councilmember Lanfear pressed for subsidy figures and a plan to approach break-even operation; Arlt and staff said they could provide more detailed projections.
The council approved resolution 2025-376 to extend Landscapes Unlimited’s management contract for five years.
