The Oregon City Planning Commission voted May 10 to continue variance VR04‑01, a request tied to a Centex Homes subdivision, to a date certain of June 14, 2004.

Planning staff explained the initial Centex subdivision design required variances to two criteria of the Oregon City Municipal Code, but that staff and the parks department had worked with the applicant on an alternative design that currently removes the need for those variances. Staff said the applicant requested a continuance to preserve the pending variance process in case a future design change again triggers the need for variances.

A motion to continue VR04‑01 to the June 14, 2004 hearing was moved, seconded and approved by the commission (motion carries 4‑0). No public testimony was offered on the request.

The continuance preserves the applicant's prior filings and positions the matter for reconsideration at the June 14 hearing if needed.
