Board supports two Minnesota State High School League Foundation grant applications; Form B will target AED purchases

The New Prague Area Schools board adopted two resolutions on Oct. 13 supporting district applications to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation. The first resolution endorsed a Form A application to seek grant funding to offset student activity fees. The second supported a Form B application intended to underwrite health and safety efforts; athletics staff told the board they plan to request funds to purchase additional automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for district facilities.
During the discussion some board members raised federal Office for Civil Rights findings concerning MSHSL compliance and suggested the district note concerns and urge compliance; others cautioned that the matter is subject to legal processes and that current state law and league membership obligations continue to apply. The board approved both resolutions by recorded voice votes.
District staff said the Form B application team (athletics and health services) is collaborating to specify the AED purchases and related health-and-safety expenditures.
