The New Prague Area Schools board approved a request from head softball coach Melissa DeGottano for a spring-break team trip to Cocoa Beach, Florida.
DeGottano told the board the trip would provide game and practice opportunities and that another nearby district would be in Florida at the same time to allow collaboration and resource-sharing. Board members asked whether tournament and scrimmage sanctioning rules had been resolved; DeGottano said recent rule changes allow the planned scrimmage to be counted appropriately and that the host program has equipment and resources the team can use.
A motion to approve the trip was moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
