WESTLAKE, Ohio (Oct. 27, 2025)
The Westlake City Schools board voted Monday to accept multiple gifts and donations and to approve several superintendent recommendations, including a revised 2026-27 school calendar.
The board unanimously approved a resolution accepting donations from local organizations. The Home Builders Institute donated Home Depot gift cards and a package of equipment to support technology and engineering programs at Westlake High School; the treasurer's report listed $2,000 in Home Depot gift cards and additional equipment noted in the agenda packet. Grace Baptist Church donated bagels, donuts and $10 car-wash certificates for Westlake Elementary staff, which the board also accepted.
Trustees also approved superintendent recommendations B through O, which included the revised school calendar that shifts the district's start and end dates to better align with neighboring districts and accommodate athletics and band schedules. Board members said the change responded to community feedback about late-summer starts and conflicts with other districts' schedules.
The board approved staffing and volunteer appointments for athletic supplementals and home instruction. All consent items were moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
