Council hears first reading to move $15,000 for Pembroke/Route 160 traffic study

On Oct. 27 the Nixa City Council held first reading of Council Bill 2025-34, an ordinance to amend the 2025 budget by $15,000 for the city's portion of a traffic impact study covering Pembroke and the Route 160 intersection.

Assistant City Administrator and Public Works Director Doug Coleman told council the Ozarks Transportation Organization agreement would fund a study that evaluates potential impacts of the proposed extension and associated development (single-family, multifamily and commercial). Coleman said the study could be used to pursue state funding or cost-sharing for intersection improvements on Route 160.

Coleman said the funds are currently available in the street professional services budget but staff recommended moving $15,000 from the economic development reserve into the street professional services line. Council opened and closed a public hearing with no speakers; the item was introduced at first reading for future consideration.
