Lowndes County to buy 2.72 wetland credits for Twin Lakes Road paving project at $54,400

Public works staff reported that the project will impact approximately 0.46 acres of wetlands and that the county must obtain mitigation credits from an Army Corps of Engineers-approved wetland bank. Staff identified Williams Investments LLC as the available seller at $20,000 per credit; the county will need 2.72 credits for the permit, at a total cost of $54,400.
A motion to approve the purchase was moved, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote. Staff said the purchase is part of standard permitting to finalize the wetland impact permit for the road project.
