Stow City invites residents to sidewalk chalk art during Celebrate Stow week

Stow City is asking residents to pick up a stick of chalk and decorate sidewalks and driveways during Celebrate Stow week, which runs June 27 through July 5, city representatives announced in a short presentation recorded at RC Davis Way.

John, a Stow City representative, said the initiative is meant to get people outside and to "celebrate Stow" through simple, temporary sidewalk artwork. Floyd, a member of the Stow City Arts Commission and an art teacher, said the program is open to people of all ages and skill levels.

"Basically, what we'd like to do is see people getting outside and promoting the city," Floyd said. He advised participants to choose pavement away from traffic, noting that chalk art is not permanent and will wash away with rain.

Organizers asked participants to photograph their work, use event hashtags linking the submission to Stow City, the parks department and the Arts Commission, and send photos to the contact information provided during the video.
