Transit director seeks full- and part-time operators; commission to consider hiring recommendation

Keontae Jarnett, identified as transit director, asked the commission for a resolution to hire one full-time transit operator and one part-time operator to address holiday demand and to cover expanded out-of-town medical transport services that now run Monday through Friday.
Jarnett said some current employees are in temporary status and that converting those positions to full time would be appropriate as their temporary status ends. He told commissioners the requested positions are within the department's budget.
Separately, Commissioner Hall announced the interim panel's recommendation to hire a transit director effective Oct. 29, 2025, at a pay rate shown in the meeting attachment and budgeted. Commissioners did not take a formal vote in this session; items were slated for the next meeting agenda.
