Milton district updates safety plans, increases school-violence drill frequency

Carrie told the board that administrators committed at interagency safe schools meetings to increase the frequency of school-violence drills to one per trimester or semester to build staff and student familiarity with SRP language.
She reported that staff survey feedback shows growing confidence and lower anxiety when conducting drills. Dr. Smith asked board members to limit public questions about detailed site-level security measures for safety reasons and offered closed-session follow-up for specific school-level inquiries.
The board moved to approve the critical incident drill reports for the 2025'026 school year; the motion was made by Tracy, seconded by Rick, and passed by voice vote.
